Percy Reserve

Make your way out to Percy Reserve in the Hutt Valley, only a 10-minute drive from the CBD. Percy’s Scenic Reserve is located on the lower slopes of Maungaraki and Korokoro. Explore the track filled with gardens of rare and endangered plants before making your way to the gushing waterfall (it’s only 15-minutes from the carpark which is great). Why not pack a picnic and sit on the bench located right in front of this hidden gem.

Explore Wellington Botanic Garden, one of Wellington’s most-loved inner-city gardens. You can find a small yet stunning waterfall by Lady Norwood Rose Garden at the Peace Garden. The waterfall drops into a pond surrounded by ducks and beautiful flora, it’s a perfect location for a light stroll. You can also stop at the Picnic Café nearby and have some refreshments.

The Korokoro Dam Waterfall is located in Belmont Regional Park which lies between the Hutt Valley and Porirua with spectacular views. The waterfall is only a short walk from the main road and won’t be hard to miss with layers of crystal-clear water flowing and surrounded by beautiful wildlife it is the ideal spot to get the camera out.

Head out to Wairarapa to Waiohine Gorge, only an hour away from the CBD. It’s the ideal location for camping, swimming and walking trails. Explore Waiohine with family, friends or by yourself – take a walk along the crystal-clear water or on the suspension bridge where you’ll be able to see the Fern Stream Waterfall flowing through to the stream.
